Thursday in Berlin

Well, as many of you already know, I quit my job a few weeks ago. While I still am happy with my decision, I do miss the people I worked with and saw daily. I hope soon to be back in the embassy working. As so much is-this too is in God´s hands and I need to be patient.

Mike, our son-has fall break at the moment. He spent the first three days of the break at Baseball BOOT CAMP in Berlin. It was an 1 1/2 bus ride but well worth the trip.

One of our  highlights in October was Mike´s Birthday-he is now 14 years old. UNBELIEVABLE. I honestly do not know where the 14 years went. In a few weeks he is going to TROPICAL ISLAND with 3 friends to celebrate the occasion. Another-friends of ours are building a house in Stahnsdorf and this past Tuesday the roof was put on. In Germany you celebrate this occasion by hanging a crown made of pine branches and a poem is recited by the construction boss. Of course a few beers-some champaigne is also drunk!!! A fun tradition-one that provides good karma for the future of the house.

It fast turning winter here-the leaves are falling at a rapid pace and it is cold! I imagine we will be carving pumpkins this coming Sunday.

Last week I went with a girlfriend to see the julia child movie! What a great movie-- it has inspired me to start cooking more. And seeing as I have the time......

Today we are trying out various appetizers: Carrot Roulades with Radish and Herb Goat Cheese, Mini Grilled Cheese and Pikant gefüllte Pfannkuchenröllchen.

Have a happy day everyone-Pictures of various events to follow
